I don't think it has to have a specific time. I usually take 10 minutes of the class with the HW as extra recaping of the last lesson and it is also helpful for those who were absent without having to explain to them alone or for them to sit without understanding what is going on.
I agree with SHern2son's comment. With the new curriculum, we advise that some time between 5 and 10 minutes are spent every class on handling only problematic items. With the new books students have an answer key, so it would be a waste of valuable class time if we go over the homework in full item by item as this can be done by the learners on their own. Class time should be dedicated as much as possible to interactive communication which our learners cannot do on their own outside the class.
